The typical western approach to healing regards the body as a bio-mechanical and chemical system requiring bio-mechanical and chemical interventions. Mind (seldom defined and little understood) and body are seen as separate.
Energy Psychology is a contemporary application of ancient methods dating back at least 5000 years. These methods understand that the body's energy systems form the basis of the body's health, and that disruptions or blockages in these energy systems can cause difficulties on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, relational and even spiritual. This knowledge formed the basis of Traditional Chinese Medicine (with its understanding of pathways of energy , or meridians, running through the body), Ayurvedic Medicine (with its system of energy centres, or chakras) and many other traditional forms of healing. Einstein recognised that all matter was made up of energy, and heralded a new paradigm in western scientific thought.
Energy Psychology is the umbrella term given to a number of cutting edge approaches which treat mental and emotional difficulties at the energetic level, resulting in often astonishly rapid and profound effects on emotional and physical health.
